Alright I'm new here and am another potential first time buyer. I've read through some of the other posts asking what the "best" AK was, and many different opinions. Instead of asking about the "best" I thought I'd rephrase the question and also limit the choices to three makes. The Arsenal SLR 107FR, the Landcaster Arms "milled" receiver and the Krebs Custom AK103 (with the saiga conversion). The question is..if you had to take any ONE of those weapons into battle and your life depended on your rifle which one would you rely on to take a beating and still fuction? And why? I know any rifle can fail but I would like your thoughts.

I have a Arsenal SLR107FR and it's top notch. Fit and finish are great and it's never failed.

Mine had the 'can't be zeroed' problem. A 2 week trip back to Arsenal fixed the issue completly. The rifle is now zeroed with the front sight post almost exactly centered. New rifle should ship with a test a test target that will eliminate that problem completly.

The Arsenal has some nice features, like the interior of the gas block being chromed and the trigger group being set up differently. The paint can be removed by brake cleaner, but brake cleaner was never on the Sov list of approved solvents. CLP and Ballistol work just fine and don't touch the paint.

I use this rifle for our local rifle matches and have been doing so for the past year or so and I've been completly happy with it. BSW

Krebs custom, hands down. Marc builds solid AKs and stands behind his work 100%. The new Arsenals have finish issues. Stronger cleaning solvents will take the finish off.  Lancaster has a good reputation around here but it isn’t in the same league as Krebs.

IMO, you can't go wrong with any of the 3. My preference, if I had the $ would go, Krebs, Arsenal, then Lancaster. Resell value about in that order too. That being said, I own Arsenals......

Arsenal and here is why......its not a conversion first of all, the Krebs rifles are Saigas which are (well before this feeding frenzy) $250-$300 rifles.....$1000 dollar price tags? I love Krebs stuff but come on...they dont even have dimples.  Lancaster?  pass.....Romanian parts kit rifles  and they were going for $150 to $200 before the craziness that is happening now.   Arsenal is the way to go....bulgarian AK all the way, its the only one of the 3 that I would want in a SHTF situation.....is there finish a little shitty?  yea for the money your spending you shouldnt have to worry about the finish coming off with solvents, but there tough as nails, and if the SHTF  the last thing I am worrying about is the finish of my rifle

Is it me or does the bore look offset to the 3:00 position? For some reason, it just doesn't look centered in this pic? Just curious...Arsenal makes an excellent product - I own 5 Arsenal AKs.

It's an artifact of the camera angle and the closeup. The bore is concentric with the outer diameter of the barrel and with the FSB.

yeah I hear you. The Krebs I was looking at is $1,300.00I can get the Arsenal for 9 so there is quite a differance. I think the new saigas have spacers in the receivers now so they don't need the dimples to correct any wobble. I didn't know the Landcaster was made out of Romanian parts though. Thanks for the info. I think I may go Arsenal.
