I have a Romy G with a Tapco G2 trigger double group. I sometimes get a two round burst, with the hammer staying forward on the third cycle without engaging the sear (Hammer forward and round in chamber). In addtion, I sometimes the hammer stays forward after a shot (no burst, round in chamber, and hammer forward).
The trigger was a Tapco G2 single and change to a Tapco G2 double based on the above same scenario. The AK was orginally built by a good builder as noted on the site. He also did the change over of the trigggers and ran 100 rounds with no problems (when the first problem occured). Any suggestions, I am not a gunsmith but looking at differnent articals I may be bump firing and not knowing it (holding the trigger in the same postion after the sear disconneted). Sounds like the Hammer spring or Recoil spring. I have friends w/ romys that had this issue that was fixed by replacing springs.
I had a WASR w/ close to the same issue and it turned out to be HeadSpacing...... The front trunion and barrel were not aligned or something on the WASR. Gave up on that POS, sold the WASR CAI sent me to replace it. I didnt notice a problem w/ my WASR for ~200-300rds down range. Hope someone here can help. Polythenepam helped me, but beware he can be a bit rough on ya. |
| Check the disconnector spring and make sure that the disconnector operates freely without any bind. Also check the hole spacing against a receiver print for the trigger pin and hammer pin. Several of the economy receiver have out of spec spacing and this is the exact symptom. |

I have the same issue with a 74. If I ride the sear the recoil is just enough in conjunction with a springy buttpad to create a bumpfire second shot. If I throw my trigger finger foreward or intentionally hold back hard the problem does not occur (leading to the bumpfire theory).
I replaced my buttstock from the choate to a tapco hard stock and we will see if that helps. |

Quoted:
Check, disconnect sprngs back, and is not binding. Can ammo also be the problem? yes, if the ammo is underpowered enough it will not be able to cycle the weapon enough to reset the hammer far enough back to be caught by the disconnector. edit: and the nodakspud's aer one of the "better" receivers. some would say the best. edit again just to confirm: you orignally had a g2 single hook trigger, it had this problem, then you changed to a double hook and the problem persists? do this: CLEAR WEAPON. remove topcover. pull trigger and keep it held back. cycle the carrier. visually inspect to ensure the hammer is being held down by the disconnetcor. slowly release the trigger, and make sure the trigger arm then catches the hammer. |

Try cycling the action while holding the trigger only partially back. The disconnector should still grab the hammer. If your disconnector is dropping the hammer you may need to cut a slight bevel in the edge of the hammer so it grabs better. You might also need to grind the front of the disconnector so that its hook rotates forward a bit more to engage the hammer more.
Another option is to get a Red Star Arms Trigger and adjust it to the way you want. |

as mentioned above - easiest to just go to the link on AK trigger adjustment. I installed over 60 trigger groups in the last few weeks and all but one were a drop in fit after adjusting all the dimensions outside the gun. This system really is repeatable and consistent.
