[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Polymer handguards

So I've read the tapco galil style handguards don't have a heat sheild and shift after they get hot...does anybody else make a galil style handguard that is better? Or any reccommendations for other polymer/zytel/whatever handguards that aren't all "Railed out"? Thanks.

You can always make your own heat shield out of sheet metal. Just bend it up to fit your application and put it in between the barrel and your front handguard...

Choate makes an AK 47 style (no palm swells) handguard set, if that's what you're looking for. I got mine from Ultimak.

any idea where i can find VEPR handguards? or if Valmet HG's will fit, where i could find them? or would i have better luck just making one from scratch (obviously fiberglass based not polymer or zytel).
