| I recently bought a Romy G kit and was wondering if their barrels are chrome lined? Can you tell if a barrel is chrome lined just by looking down the bore? If so what should I look for. |
It's reflective. I my old RRA AR barrel which is chrome-moly lined is just as reflective though. I guess that means it's chrome lined. I always thought chrome-moly steel was mostly steel and very little chrome though, so I assumed that steel was just as reflective. |

It can be hard to tell just by looking. New hardchrome can actually have a 'frosted' look to it before it polishes down. If you see grey/white extending past the edge of the crown that's usually a good sign that the barrel's chromed. An easy way to test is if you have some cold blue. It will darken steel and won't touch hardchrome. BSW |
Chromed barrels and hard chromed slides are not the same thing. Romanian G kits are chromed. Only barrels that aren't chromed are Yugo and US made barrels, which are both subpar in my opinion. |
