Is it worth adding a rail to the forend such as the Surefire picatinny rail?

I like rails for a weapons light and a place to mount my VFG when using a drum.
The UltiMAK gas tube rail is awesome for an Aimpoint Micro optic.

You get an enthusiastic YES from me

Agree, I have lower handguards with rails on my AK. If you are using a drum the VFG defintly works great. If I don't want to use the VFG with my standard AK mags, I take the VFG off. This is what I use and the cost is not much. In fact, I would recommend  you get one with rails and one without rails.(link)

I also have the Ultimak and have been very happy with it. It works Great with my EoTech. I have heard some people on the boards saying that they are not very good, but I can't agree.
