| i just got a '93 MAK 90 with thumbhole, that someone cut out the bottom to make a pistol grip. doesn't matter because i want to convert to synthetic furniture. i know about 922 compliance, so my question is what furniture will fit the best with least amount of modification? it has the straight cut receiver at rear. has anyone tried the UTG quad rail forearm mount? or is the ultimak with a CAA handguard better? any, and all info will be appreciated. |
| if you want to use wood furniture, you can purchase it from Ironwood Design. If you want the plastic furniture, it takes ALOT of sanding to make the buttstock fit into a MAK-90. The other alternative, if you are interested, I have an old, metal, non folding skeleton "Krink" stock from FSE from the ban era. If you are interested in it, let me know. The Krink stock, US made pistol grip, and a G2 FCG from Tapco will get you at 5 US parts |

The Tapco G2 trigger is good, but I think the rest of their stuff is pretty flimsy. I'm building a Mak and it is getting IWD furniture and a G2 trigger. My 5.45 guns sport synthetic furniture from KVar because I clean them with water. I do prefer the look and feel of wood, but I like the ruggedness and light weight of synthetic. |
Yes it matters. The law went into effect in 1989 and that is why all rifles imported after that date needed to meet certain requirements, i.e. thumbhole stock to meet the sporting purposes requirement. To change out the configuration that it was legally imported with then US parts are required. |
