I already have one AK in 7.62x39. A Yugo to be exact. Well, I just found someone who is selling another Yugo for a great price. It's exactly like mine and other than needing a touch of cleaning on the rubber pad on the buttstock, doesn't even appear to have ever been used! I told the guy I needed a couple of hours to think on it. I'm just not an impulsive buyer type. Not only do I already have one AK in that caliber but I have the exact same model of rifle. On the other hand, these are getting hard to come by and I know I'll be kicking myself in the morning if I pass on this deal. So, please tell me, is there any reason I shouldn't be all over this like ugly on an ape? |
While talking with another pro-gun co-worker I just came to the exact same conclusion. This is an investment buy. I'm confident I could turn around and make at least $50 and probably $100 in no time if I decide to sell it. |

Well, it's sitting in a box next to my desk. Upon closer inspection it has a little grime on the buttstock, but nothing that won't come off with a baby wipe or two. Also, the buttstock has a different serial number on it than the rest of the rifle. It appears to have been shot, but not much. There's barely any powder residue inside. Again, a quick cleaning and it should be good as new. It does have one thing that I don't remember seeing on my previous M70B1: "Zastava (some factory name) Yugoslavia" is stamped on the side of the receiver, just below the rear iron sight. Overall I'm still very happy with it and comfortable that it is at least worth the $400 I paid for it. I should post this in the Yugo forum. |
| An investment buy for sure - but there's other good reasons as well. Just my two cents, but I feel strongly about having at least two of any gun I like for several reasons. 1st. is that such guns my be banned one day and there's simply no good reason not to have a back up. 2nd. is to do with all the other stuff that comes along - when you buy an AR or AK, most people will spend at least an equal amount on mags, ammo, and accessories. God forbid something goes wrong with the gun - you end up being out double, that is unless you have a back up. I don't know, maybe I just have issues - I get duplicate knives and scopes to. Hell, I'd even have two wives if I didn't have to live with them both. |
Ah...that explains why I just bought a second K31 last week. Now I understand the pattern. |

For the most part, any weapon is an investment, as long as you're smart about the choice you make. I don't have any dupes in my collection, but that isn't because it was by choice. I just happened upon good deals on different variants. Buy the gun! Later on, if you have a hankering for another variant, you can always use one of the Yugos as trading fodder. Rules To Live By: 1. You can never have too many guns; even if they are the same type of weapon. 2. Most weapons never depreciate in value. 3. Duplicating weapons is a smart idea, specifically if replacement parts are needed in a hurry. 4. You can NEVER have too many Kalashnikovs!! |
