Sounds like a MAK-90 parts kit built on a US receiver then. MAK-90s had Chinese receivers, this must be someone's build. What brand receiver was it built on (Global Trades/Armory USA?) and who built it?

Well, then what is it?

MAK-90's are Chinese rifles that were last imported in 1994.  Only Chinese thumbhole stocked rifles were marked MAK-90.  Your thread is titled "MAK-90 question".

MAK-90 rifles were not built on US receivers originally.  They were built on Chinese receivers.  There were MAK-90 demilled rifles that became kits at the time import was banned.  If a rifle was built by one of these it would be a kit build.  MAK-90s

There were rifles that were built on Egyptian Maadi receivers with Chinese parts by Century but these didn't use US receivers, these were not designated MAK-90s.  Century Arms MISR-90 rifle

Global Trades built up some rifles with Chinese parts, these were not designated MAK-90s.

Info from gunsnet:
SSR-56 ...The SSR-56 is built on Hungarian FEG receiver with new Chinese Poly-Tech barrel, Bulgarian receiver parts, US trigger parts, and Bulgarian Walnut stock (or Polymer stock). It used to be built on US-made Ohio Ordnance Works/ITC receiver before FEG receivers came in again. This is a very unique and interesting blend of AK-47 and AKM from 4 nations. Arsenal used to use OOW receiver, but they've switched back to FEG for now. It's likely to be built on Arsenal USA's own US receiver in the future. This model is new for 2002.

A MAK-90 kit built on a new US receiver would be a kit build.

Basically, these days any AK rifle that takes a standard 30rd mag and is in OK shape that you can get for <$300 is a good deal. If it is more than that, then pictures are required.
