If I choose to get an AK from Atlantic, which of these models would be the superior AK, and why?

Please explain, or point me in the right directions.  This would be my first AK47!

1)  Vector classic AK
www.atlanticfirearms.com/programming/expand.asp?Prodid=233

2) Lancaster Consulting AK
www.atlanticfirearms.com/programming/expand.asp?Prodid=446

3)  Bulgarian SSR AK
www.atlanticfirearms.com/programming/expand.asp?Prodid=493

4)  Sierra Side Folder
www.atlanticfirearms.com/programming/expand.asp?Prodid=460

As you can see, I like this type of "look" for an AK.  I'm just curious which one is the best quality, and why.   I do care about overall fit and finish, build quality, and accuracy.  (I'm also willing to spend more, or buy somewhere else.)

I own two of those exact Lancasters and they are fine rifles.

#3 looked like a really nice rifle as well though.

I have heard nothing but good about the Vectors.

There you have it, I have not helped you at all.

Of those, #3. I don't believe the receiver hype but do have a soft spot for Bulgy bbls. Now if you live in the swampy part of TX you may prefer the parkerized models.

4)  Sierra Side Folder

I have the Sierra, and the fit and finish is excellent. Everything is absolutely rock-solid and tight, and the ACE folder is very comfortable, with a pretty nice cheek-weld for a folder. I'll be getting a shorter vertical forward grip ASAP.

well, which one comes with the most stuff, do all of them have bayonet lugs and muzzle breaks? how long are the warranties? overall which is the best bang for the buck?

I really want to see some better pics of that milled vector.

There are no more milled Vectors from what I understand.  There are a few items on Atlantic that you can't get anymore - I wish he'd take them off.

I happen to be ordering the SSR. However, the ssr-85 is a post-ban model. You being in Texas I would recommend the Vector. Removable muzzle break, nice finish, good gun. Some people here say Lancaster uses Romanian parts.

I got the standard Lancaster Consulting model. No problems with the rifle, Lancaster or Atlantic.

I would say find a SAR 1, at least it isn't a parts gun and has real imported Mil-Spec receiver.

The Sierra side-folder is out of stock and won't be back according to the reply I received from Atlantic today. I'm in the same boat trying to decide on a rifle. I have a deposit on the SSR 85 for when they come back in stock but have been looking at the Vector Classic poly and the Lancaster, also.

There is also this rifle newly listed if anyone knows anything about it: www.atlanticfirearms.com/programming/expand.asp?Prodid=481

Same thing applies to the Bulgy in #3.

I thought # 3 has a receiver designed by Ivan of global trades, then they shipped the dies to bulgaria and built kit rifles there and shipped them to the U.S.

+1.  I have the Vector classic AK, it's a sweet little rifle.

I have an SSR. It says 'Made in Bulgaria' on the side. Everyone seems to like vectors too. Go with one of those two. I didn't like the one with the Tapco front hand guard. Romanian parts for over $500 is too much IMO.

Then again... you can change out the furniture on the Sierra to a make it a Beryl clone.

+1

I bought 3 nice ones and I own 1 WASR. If I could go back, I would just buy all WASRs. If you hand select your WASR then you can get a nice one.

FYI, I e-mailed Atlantic like a week ago and they said the Vector classic has like a month-long wait.

It'd been that long since last summer when I picked up mine.  It won't be getting shorter any time soon.  It will be longer if you go directly through Vector.  Go with Atlantic.

I'd get the Lancaster.  I had one and was very impressed with it.  I rate them just below Vector regarding overall quality, but the metal is already finished for you.  That's a plus in my book.

I am throwing my vote to Vector too....
