A few months back I purchased a low capacity WASR 2 with the intention of converting it to normal capacity. After recieving the compliance parts I needed to legally convert it I began going to work. Unfortunately when I installed the tapco G2 trigger group the hammer spring appeared to be too long, and would slip off of the trigger. On top of this the safety lever is binding where it is supposed to catch the trigger. All I can figure is that something is out of spec since I reassembled the FCG the exact same way as my WASR 10. If anybody else has encountered this or has possible solutions, I would appereciate the help. Things to take note of -the Tapco G2 is a double hook trigger, the WASR 2 is designed for a single hook trigger but I dremeled out what was needed to install the G2. I have checked the trigger when installed and it does not make contact with any part of the reciever that it is not supposed to touch. - I am using the original hammer spring since the Tapco kit did not include one. - I am also using the original safety lever. - I don't think this matters but I am using the original hook to keep the pins in place. |

You don't need to replace the original hammer spring or the hook (fire control pins retaining spring) with your G-2 so you have no problem there... My first and most important thing to check would be... Do you have the hammer spring mounted properly in the RIGHT direction around the hammer? If you mounted it backwards, I'd think that would affect the length of the legs and performance. as a check - you can eyeball / measure your removed trigger set Vs. the G-2 and there should not be any significant difference in the length of the trigger ledge that the spring legs rest upon. I've done about 10 SAR / WASR / AK to G-2 trigger change outs and I've never had any difficulties at all. (aside from getting the hook back in place but that is a different story!)
