I looking into one of these from HendersonArms.  They look like a pretty nice AK.

For best bang for the buck, I'd go with a Vector.  Arsenals are nice, but costs twice as much as a nice Vector in some cases.

Look here:  www.atlanticfirearms.com  Arfcom members get a discount, too.

Arsenal or Vector, you cant go wrong. The Vector is likely the better value of the 2, bout a hundred bucks less. You'll be very happy with either of them.

Just go look at Atlantic Firearms' website.  They have a whole host of high quality AK's.

Henderson Defense also gets high marks.  I wouldnt worry too much about what "brand", I'd worry more about where it was made.  CAI warrants more concerns, some of the comapanies already named = less concerns.

Unavailable...  No one has one and they keep saying they have dropped the plans to make any...  Its a shame because those would sell like hotcakes...  Bulgarians puzzle me sometimes...

Spooky

I disagree.

If bang-to-buck value is really your question, I definitely wouldn't say Arsenal. I own an Arsenal SAM-7 carbine, and I'm actually looking to trade it for a Vector.

There is nothing an Arsenal can do that a Saiga or Yugo can't do for half the price.

JMHO, and YMMV.

definately arsenal and vectors are great builds....but like dixiedawg said, there is no reason to pay more

for me the Vector is the best bang for the buck.....I dont see any need to spend all the money on an arsenal when the vector will do everything just as good

BEST bang for the buck??

If criteria is JUST price; classic arms has boutique-built Romy G AKs being buit on NDS recvrs, best rcvrs in the USA.
Next cheapest is the Century Arms imported WASR10, 100% Romy built rough and tumble - just like an AK should be. WASRs are widely available, but must be bought in-person only, so as to check for FSB cant issues and the quality of the 922-job that Cent does to the guns once in the USA.
Oh and they have a great warranty; Cent will make it right.

IMHO, absolute best bang for the bucjk is the Cent Yugo rifles. Cent sub-contracted the work to someone else, and by and large they are great builds using great parts backed by Cent's great warranty. Go check the Yugo threads here for info.

LMFAO.  I would never recommend a Century product, especially as a first AK.  Just last night I was looking at a Yugo Underfolder.  The Century monkey-squad installed the FSB with at least a 10 degree cant.  I also looked at a WASR-10 that had the magwell cut off center and off axis by a couple degrees.  These are not things that you want to deal with when looking at a first AK.  Second, that warranty work isn't "free".  It is going to cost you at least $25 every time you have to ship.

What about Lancaster?  They seem pretty good.  They have a lifetime warranty, but who knows if they'll be around to honor it.

So I found a milled Vector    Now all I need are accessories.  Who makes the best mags and drums?  Does it really matter if it's chinese or european?  Any good sites with lots of ak stuff?

I wouldn't necessarily recommend a Century product as a first choice becasue of the reasons cited. To me they are more like looking for a real find at a second hand shop. If you get a good one they are solid, shootable and cheap.

But whats this about it costing $25 every time you have to ship? You DO NOT have to go through an FFL for a company to fix your rifle. And as far as shipping costs when I did it, I had Century schedule UPS to come out to the house and pick up the rifle ON THEIR DIME. If its their cock up that warranty is in effect such that it doesn't cost you anything else monitarily. Anyone at Century that tells you differently ask to speak to their supervisor and go as high as you need to. You CAN get satisfaction. Sometimes you just have to fight for it a bit.

Companies will stop providing us with shoddy products and unacceptable customer service as soon as we stop ACCEPTING shoddy products and unacceptable customer service.
Cheers,

Glad you got a chuckle. I live to make you laugh.

Century took care of any warranty issues with my one Yugo at zero cost to me. Out of 4 different WASRs - all 4 for less than one current Arsenal - only one had sight cant - fixed myself with a pinpunch. All 4 WASRs go bang just like any other AK I own.

I'm sure a lot of WASR bashing on the net is due to the embarrasing realization that the git at the other shooting bench paid like a 3rd less for their WASR than what the bootique parts-AK was bought for, yet is having every bit as much fun.

I think Century hires monkeys to rivet their rifles together.  Misformed heads are the norm.  Must be the same monkeys that Bushmaster uses to stake their gas keys.

Speaking of which, it would be interesting to know who "OEMs" the Cent Yugos and AMDs for Century - they seem to be very well made and with top-shelf US parts. Or at least they were.
