After my post & dealings with a G2 trigger group in my M70B1, got out my Polish underfolder that I got from Military Gun Supply a couple of years back. Checking out the trigger group in it and... my safety doesn't work! That's right, safety all the way up, and with the gun cocked, pull trigger and hammer falls. Each time every time. Gentleman, it's time for a function test on all your kit builds, Century builds, whatever. Looks like I'm gonna need another trigger group or a new selector one. Hell it's too late I'm going to bed.

| It sounds like you need a new safety and maybe not a new FCG. The tab on the safety may be too short and not preventing the trigger from moving. Have you pulled the top cover to see what is happening ? I guess the hook on the trigger may also be worn out. Did it work properly before ? |
It appears the safety/selector just doesn't have enough "meat" to stop the trigger. What is strange is the fact it does not look worn at all, the finish is still there on the safety/selector where it contacts. I might order another and try it, but simple fact is the trigger is allowed to move too far before it contacts, thereby letting the hammer go. I honestly don't know if it worked before or not. I've got 5 AK's and don't remember checking to see if it would drop the hammer or if it would not fire. Sure is gonna change my SOP, it all goes back to the golden rule - don't point at anything you don't want to shoot and keep your fingers off the trigger!

The Red Star Arms adjustable triggers are made with more meat in that area. You have to file it to fit, but it gives you a chance to get the safety to lock the trigger tightly. I ran into the same situation on my converted 308 Saiga, not enough meat on the selector to stop the trigger when set to 'safe'. The RSA trigger had to be ground to fit with the same selector. The RSA triggers are worth the money anyways so I'd probably do that. But you can swap in a different selector or weld up a bit on the one you have. |
