[ARCHIVED THREAD] - My First AK

Hi every body I just purchasched my 1st AK. I ordered a YUGO underfolder from Classic arms. It should arrive tomorrow at my local shop. Is there anything that I should look for specifically while I am inspecting the weapon B4 I take it home. Oh it is completly chrome plated they said it was completly funcitional and safe to shoot. Is there anyplaces that I should check for tolarances other than barrel and chamber? Thanks for any help that would be great thanks.

Make sure that the front sight isn't canted, then function test it, then shoot it, then don't clean it.

Haha, when I got my first AK I just pounded the sight over with a hammer. Not advocating this at all, but I just put my knee on the receiver on the garage floor and beat it with a hammer. It still shot as straight as ever and oddly I didn't have to resight the rifle.

Only the 5.56 cal Yugos were ever made with chrome lining in the bbls.

Are they US barrels or..I wonder if they are the original non chrome lined barrels. Wouldnt it be kind of funny having an entire yugo in chrome except for the barrel being chrome lined. They are awsome. I wish I had one.

yep thats what it looks like. I think it is just a centry rifle that has been chrome plated. Hopefully it will arrive monday and I can get some better pics of it. I also want to put some ironwood on it as I am not a huge fan of the black plastic.

Drawing crowds at the range and gun show is about the only reason to own a chrome AK. unless of course you are a drug lord or street crime leader. Im just a redneck looking for a good conversation peice. Ill get some pics up as soon as I can get the thing in my hands.
