I recently had a supposedly competent gunsmith build me an AK using a Romanian parts kit and a DCI receiver.  The build has had some problems, most of which have already been worked out, but I still have a problem with the cartridge hitting the bullet guide.  When I chamber a round the bullet is hitting the bullet guide, when I use FMJ rounds it seems to be just rubbing against the bullet guide, but when I use hollow points it is hitting the guide and deforming the bullet a little bit.  Did the gunsmith screw up my build, and is this going to be a problem for the gun in terms of accuracy and reliability?  I have already spoken to him about this and he told me that it should be fine, but I do not feel he has been totally up front with me.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't sound like the builder did anything wrong.  Many have that problem using hollowpoint bullets.  There should be a post around showing how others have corrected it by slightly altering the feed angle at the chamber face.  I'll see if I can find the post.

I couldn't find a post with good pictures so this will have to do.
