[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Furniture removal problem

Refinishing the furniture on my Yugo U/F. Gas tube handguard came off as advertised, flipped up the small lever on the lower handguard keeper plate (just like my SAR 1) but the keeper plate will only slide forward about 1/8 inch, not far enough to drop the lower handguard. This is my first Yugo...is there something I'm missing? Any advise would be welcome.

Put your back in to it... it will slide more. Just keep at it.

Put some CLP or WD40 on it to make it easier and less likely to mar the finish.
