After 9 rounds to re-zero it (since adding a can typically shifts your POI) I headed to the 200 yard range. After about 2 rounds the optic just quit. Could be a lemon since I haven't really used this optic all that long, and PA just released them not too long ago, but it did happen. The stock was loose, and I do mean loose after I got done. Thought it was the can or the magazine, but the screw holding the Yugo stock came loose pretty good. Might not be that much of an issue on a regular AKM pattern stock (much less an underfolder or sidefolder), but it was pretty bad on my N PAP. However, this is probably the reason my PA red dot is dead and the stock came loose: The rifle is probably just overgassed a tad too much. I've noticed this N PAP seems to throw brass pretty high up, sometimes akin to how an SKS throws brass straight up in the air. So, I may be searching for another potential host for this can that isn't so overgassed. Atlantic has pictures of one of their Wolverines on one of the Polish WBP rifles, so I might steer towards one of those. Problem with finding a different, less gassy AK host is that I've always heard Combloc AK manufacturers tend to slightly over-gas them anyway for 'extra reliability'. I have a Wolf XP spring and one of those polymer buffers on order from Brownell's to see if it'll alleviate the issue in the mean time, but I really don't care for those polymer buffers at all. Mike and Gary, the owners of Dead Air have actually said that the can seems to perform better on 5.45 rifles. While I wouldn't mind getting a 5.45 AK again, I'd rather not. I got rid of mine to consolidate ammo to just 5.56 and 7.62x39 for my bulk rifle calibers. ETA video: CAI NPAP + Dead Air Wolverine first shots |

View Quote While I have heard of the KNS piston and think it's an intruiging idea, I'm really leaning towards buying a new host for this can, though. Something with a folding stock like an underfolder or sidefolder. Hell, maybe I'll finally decide to do an AK SBR to go along with all the AR SBRs I have... |
