I got a great deal on a romanian Ak with the side mount scope. I also picked up the POSP 8x42 scope. for some reason I can not mount the scope on the rifle. For one, even thought it appears to go forward as far as it will go, it will not stay in place. And two, the front sight blocks the scope unless i push it up and forward, then it looks like something is wrong. Has anyone had this problem? and can you offer a solution AFTER justifiably calling me a dumbass. Thanks in advance for the help. Joe |

I'm not the expert you're looking for but I have 36 hours of ownership experience of a PSOP 4-8X42 scope and a little more time with an Arsenal -106FR. The scope side mount was a little tricky getting properly aligned and got it started "crooked" a couple of times. Finally got it lined up properly, but had to gently "drift" it home the last couple of inches with a nylon hammer. The rifle side mount and the mating scope rail are definitely not a slip fit. I have some issues with the locking latch, but the thing is so tight on the rail, tightning it up further is not a real issue for now. The configuration that I have, has the scope CL offset to the left from the rifle bore about half an inch. As a rookie with AKs, I'm assuming this is standard, or one of the standard configurations. With the offset, there is no optical interference with the front sight. The scope is rock solid tight to the rifle, and can't be moved around as you describe. A complete guess, given my experience, is that you've got the rail on the scope mount misaligned with the rail on the rifle. By now, someone who really knows has probably tuned in and sent you a real solution to your problem, but this is the best I can do for now. |

What clamp is on the scope? I'm guessing you need an AK clamp and have the Dragunov one on the scope. See link: stores.freedomoptics.com/Detail.bok?no=28 Clamp in the link raises the scope up and forward and stops at the rear of the side rail. If your scope hits the rear sight, you must have the Drag clamp with a stop pin at the front (stops inside the front cut out). The objective bell on the 4x pso's clear the rear sight and work with the Drag style clamp. |
