i'm about to order a siderail mount and am curious they seem like they are designed to return to zero if removed and put back on

am I correct?

I bought a siderail screw mount from Tantal and had a local gunsmith mount it for me.  I've got a Kobra sight mounted and having had it off and on numerous times, I'd say it returns to zero pretty well.  I don't know that it's EXACT, but close enough for what I use mine for.  An AKs, after all, aren't usually bought to be precision tack-drivers!!!  But seriously, I'd say at the 30 yard distance I'm shooting at (maximum indoor range since it's cold outside) I repeat within a closer tolerance than I am capable of holding.

Yes, or darned close. You may also be able to put the dust cover back on without removing the mount. Maounts vary, rail heights vary.
