About a year ago, I bought a PK-AS for my AK from Freedom Optics. When I recieved it, I put a battery in (1/3N) and tried it out to see if it worked. Once I verified that it worked I mounted it on my AK and stuck in the safe. Well, on friday I pulled it out because I wanted to try and rig it on an ARMS #17s mount so I could use it on another rifle. Before I removed it from the AK mount, I tested it again and it didn't turn on. I figured I left it on and the battery was dead. I went to the store and got three more 1/3N batteries (figuring I would forget again to turn it off). Got home put in new battery and it still didn't work. Tried another battery, and no workie. Then tried the third battery and it didn't work either. So needless to say, I have not removed it from the AK mount just yet. I can't believe that this scope is already dead and it hasn't even been used during live fire. I sent Yuri an email about possibility of a warranty, but haven't heard back from him. Any suggestions? |
The spring completes the circuit. Try emery paper to "rough up" the contact point. Use a paper clip or knife - small object to GENTLY give the spring some addition height/lift for good contact with battery(s). The PK-AS I just got from Tantal has two LR-44 batteries with the negative sides toward the cap. Hope this helps. Backasswards polarity, poor spring tensions, dirty/oxidized/corroded contacts and incorrect battery(s) often are the culprits.

Tried two LR44 batteries, cleaning contact points, stretching out the spring and nothing helped. I still haven't heard from Freedom Optics so I contacted Posp and they said ship it back and they would replace it free of charge. Now that is service. I will report back if I actually get a working unit back. |
