I got my Rakurs in the mail last week..intersting sight system.  Impressed with over quality and ruggedness.  Having said that; when I look through the sight, the etched post is very clearly visible, but the tritium is not, unless I shift my head and eye down...quite a bit actually, before it shows op in the glass.  It's a pretty fine line between the tritium appearing and not, making snap shots in lower light tough...if not impossible.

Normal?

Observations welcome, please!

I'd say it's pretty normal, or rather that the tritium does not appear in the FOV independent of your head position like the etched reticule does. Put another way the tritium only appears to shine into your eye from one position, vs the black reticule which can be seen from anywhere.

Is the optic on the rifle?

When looking at the reticule off the rifle (scope in hand) you do have to drop your eyes and head down to see the tritium. On the rifle not nearly as much but it does take a little. My not so scientific observation is that most of the time we tend to shoot with a higher eye position relative to the reticule whereas the tritium is relatively unforgiving and seems to require you to be level with it. IMO that seems to create the perception that you have to lower your head when maybe it's really just getting properly level, if that makes sense.

If you are having serious trouble using the tritium something could be wrong with your optic but it's hard to say over the Internet.

Thanks for the input!  It's mounted...I'm thinking it's a scope issue.  When I get my head/eye aligned, the sight picture literally goes away starting from the top, i.e I see a half moon through the target when the tritium becomes visible.  Not sure what the deal is.

Zen...it's at such an angle, that I doubt you could get a picture of it (like those you shot of the sight) and still be able to see anything.

Weird.

Let's hope I can work through with the retailer.
