I posted this in the TNVC industry page, but got no response. So, I figured the AK-specific optics area would be a better bet.
I know most are going to use the RDP-II on an ar15 or as a backup red dot attached to a scoped rifle. But I've recently gotten the ak47 bug and plan on mounting an optic on an ultimak gas tube rail. Prolonged fire in training classes can heat those rails up pretty good and I was wondering how the RDP-II handled heat. Does anyone have any experience w/ the RDP II on an ak47? Thoughts/opinions? How'd the unit handle the heat? Also, does the sight come w/ a rail mount? From the link above, it looks like it does, but wanted to confirm. Note(s): ** I'm not looking for an end-all, be-all optic. I just a decent one with a decent price that will allow me to get some decent training in while I save up for an Aimpoint H1 . Also, my search-fu sucks. So, if I missed the thread that talked about this sight on an ak47, I do apologize for a duplicate post; please provide the link to that thread. Thanks much. |

When I saw the TNVC I was so stoked on the price and size and ready to order, until I read this quote from their web page, "We do not recommend this sight for duty use or any situation where the user's life may depend on the functionality of the sight."
I'm glad to see the guys in Afghanistan are getting good use out of it, but I just find it hard to buy something for a firearm when the maker says don't depend on our product for your life. |

There are people using this in Afghanistan? I don't understand their product description.? They state that this sight was designed to overcome supposed failures of other mini red dots. They state "many of these sights were fine for drill sand "fake world" training , but would not come with us into harm's way in the real world." WTF is that supposed to mean if they state explicitly at the bottom that this sight is not to be used in the real world? |

I know. I hate to bash them cause they are supporters of this forum and the fact I've never used their product. But that statement on their own site killed it for me. I was wanting to buy it until i read that statement. I do wonder if they are being either modest or just stating that for liability. It is an attractive looking sight for a decent price. |

I know my 2 Aimpoints and my Sig optics don't say not to trust them.
That's good to know. I like the size, but just didn't like that statement. The only reason I didn't go with a Burris is cause you have to remove it to change the batteries. I don't feel like re-zeroing everytime I have to change the batteries. |
