| Anybody used one of these yet? What's the scoop on these things? Are they any good for anything or are they no better than the Kobra I'm currently rockin' on my 74? |

No, I haven't used one but the pictures of them mounted look ridiculously high above the bore. It looks like you would have a "chest weld." That's par-for-the-course as far as the Russians are concerned. We take AR's and conform them to meet our personal ergonomics. In the case with an AK, you conform to to the rifle instead. No worries though, my Kobra sight doesn't give the best cheekweld ever but it doesn't bother me. |

I own one. There is no cheek weld and I haven't had the opportunity to sight it in yet. It needs an outside light source to see the reticule which can be hard to see using indoor light. Outside, the reticule is crisp. The glass clarity is ok. You can just barely make out the irons underneath it (and when I say just barely, I mean it is non-usable and it may help in sighting in from a bench rest). On my rifle, it sits right over the bore line.
On my particular scope, the reticule is slightly crooked, but I don't think that hurts anything. It has two levers on the optic, one operates a shaded lens and the other flips up a mirror. The lever that flips up the the mirror is completely useless as the optic has no tritium which was probably taken out for import. Now, if you have some tritium to put into it, it would make it overall pretty useful, instead of only being useful during the day.
I like the scope, I got it because I thought it was neat and overall I really like it. I got mine from kalinka, I thought it was expensive but I wanted it anyway. P.S. Does anyone know a source for tritium? |
