So I got this sling, but it feels brand new. Its a olive drab material type for my ak. Since the rifle has the worn look I want the sling to match. Whats a good way to wear in a sling, short of going into battle or wearing the rifle for months at a time. Would washing it make it more plyable? Its very stiff and just to new looking. Here is a pic, the site says used but in good condition, this one looks brand new, but for $7 im not complaining.

Wrap it around your torso and roll around in the driveway?

Leave it out in the weather for a couple months?

Soak it in beef broth and give it to a dog as a chew toy?

Seriously, just go shoot the rifle. After a decade or two I doubt that anybody will laugh at you because your sling is too new for your rifle. BSW

Make sure you cut yourself somewhere and drizzle some of the blood onto it.  Give it that authentic battlefield pick-up.  You can tell girls that you bring over to the house about how your M-4 ran out of rounds during an attack in Afghanistan and you took that one off a Hadji you had just previously greased and finished off the rest of his buddies with it!

I did one of those using an angle die grinder and a scotch-brite disc.

Just sand it here and there along the edges mostly with a few touches on the face till you get the level of wear you desire.

Adapt the technique to whatever abrasive items you may have at your disposal. Even a file or rasp may work.
