In every photo I've seen of the PK-AS (such as this one http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/pk-as.html ) the mount looks like it's a side mount, and doesn't sit over the top of the rifle; do I have this right?
Also, for those who have this optic, how do you like it?? |

I love mine and its still my favorite all around combloc red dot. Not so easy to zero but once it's on it stays on target pretty well.
Overall I think it's probably tougher than the Kobra and has a better FOV than the PK-A. PK-A is definately the easiest of the 3 to zero but you are also looking down a non magnified tube which is kind of odd until you get used to it. Best thing about the PK-AS is the always on black dot...I've had recoil induced issues with the PK-A dot going out from time to time and dead batteries in the Kobra, but the PK-AS is always ready to shoot no matter what thanks to the black dot. Big plus in my book. A couple three years ago I mounted it on my NDM86 and had a blast shooting soda cans off the berm at 70 yards or so. Lately I've been using it on my S12 and that will probably be it's permanent home, the two go together really well. Z |
| There's two versions of the PK-AS: the PK-AS-W that sits off to the left side and the PK-AS-V that sits over the bore. The W allows you to use the iron sights and sits lower, but you have to get used to the sight being off to the left. The V is over the bore, but sits too high for a cheek weld. Pick your poison. I've got the V and love it. |
