okay, so i'm looking for a picture reply to this question. does anyone have:
a) ultimak gas tube
b) eotech
c) AND an aimpoint/clone

any way that you can take a picture from the rear of the weapon looking through the optics? looking for an idea of high the eotech sits.

eotech from the side
aimpoint from the side

the EOTech is much, much higher.

any chance you could snap a shot looking down the barrel through the optics?

for the aimpoint, look at UltiMAK's website. I re-zeroed my MAK90, so I'm not going to pop the sight off again for the EOTech shot. You can tell from the side shot that the base of the EOTech is higher than the rear sight; also, the bottom of the glass is higher than the front sight. While an EOTech will fit on an UltiMAK rail, you're better off with a low-mounting tube-body optic like an Aimpoint.

If you want to imagine using an EOTech, just think "chin weld". If you have a folding or collapsing stock, think "no weld".

that's what i was looking for. i'm not overly happy with the aimpoint as it's hard for <me> to "double eye" as it obstructs the view so much. thinking i might try a c-more.

have you thought about the trijicon rx06 or rx09? I don't like them, but they're lower than the EOTech and not as "massive" as the Aimpoints.
