This company is telling me that the PK-A they sell is really a PK-AV and that the V only means the type of mount. Here is what I was going to buy:
WATERPROOF COLLIMATING RED DOT SCOPE PK-A (in BLACK with AK/SAIGA MOUNT )- US $176 S/h/i by insured mail - US$23 But an ad I was looking at from Tantals site said the PK-AV is an upgraded version of the PK-A....they say the PK-A they sell is the same. Do you guys agree? Thx |
| Well they say it's a PK-A and the one they are selling is black like the bottom picture on the above post. I was thinking the "V" part means it's an updated electronics and finish. They say it's just the mount type it comes with. By the pictures in the above post the black one does have different turrets. I bought one now so I guess I will see when it gets here if it is what I'm thinking. |
| I have had both. I prefer the PK-AV. However, The PK-A sits lower than the PK-AV and you get a better cheekweld. The PK-AV also sits a lttle to the left of the centerline. You can still use your iron sights with the PK-AV. Get them while you can the supply of these seems to have really dried up lately. |

I would say the internals are the the same. I could not see any difference in the dot size or the general quality of the optics between the two. They both use the same battery, two SR44s or one CR1/3N. Externally, the knobs are different and the PK-
AV sits higher, more to the left, and has a differnent finish. It is not a co-wittness but you can still use iron sites with the PK-AV. |

Several places use the 'V' for the AK bracket with stop plate in back, and the other for SVD bracket with stop button in front. Regardless of the actual optic up top.
I often prefer low/left to high/center since I like to focus on bullet drop and not the parallax of the arc from bbl up to reticle and then back down. And the irons are less obstructed when needed 'right now' for any reason. your choice, happy hunting |
