I recently acquired a new Chinese drum, but am at a loss as to what type of weapon it is used for.  I ran across it and knew it was a rare version of some kind but just wasn't sure, so I decided to pick it up.

I have a normal 75 rd. Chicom drum and I also have a couple of the Chinese drums that were for the AR15 in .223.  But this one is different from both of those.  The difference is mainly in the feed tower and the back lid.

Here are pics for help in possibly identifying.

I've been told from someone that has the version of the Polytech 90rd. drum that it also different from that variant.  I know it does not lock up into the AR15 I had access too.

You can see that the finish looks different in the pics on the tower, but it only the glare from the sun.  The drum looks really new and matches are far as the finish is concerned.

Any help would be appreciated.  I'm not really planning on keeping it and would like to know how to advertise it and be able to sell it to someone that has a weapon that it would actually fit.

Well with a little help from some fellow gun enthusiasts, I was able to determine the type of drum this is.

I'm almost 99.9% positive now that it is an AR drum for the 7.62x39mm round.  Another person suggested and reminded my that they had (or maybe still do) produced the AR15 chambered in 7.62x39mm.  Here is a picture of it loaded with 7.62.  A perfect fit and looks to hold about 85 to 90 rds. approximately.

Anybody ever seen one like this and/or know what the value of this drum might be?

ETA:  New pic of side feed tower.

I have a Chinese 7.62x39 drum for the AR-15 and I will get some pics of mine for you.  As for price, I am not sure I can give you a good idea as I paid a lot gor mine but I wanted it pretty bad (I can use it full-auto so it was worth more to me)...

If it is a 7.62x39 drum for the AR-15, and it may well be based on your pics, then it was a great find.  Just understand that there are 223 drums for the AR-15 as well and they are far more common then the 7.62x39 version and accordingly are not worth as much.  If that is your mag with rounds loaded, I am pretty sure you are correct that this is a 7.62x39 drum however.

You also never show the other side of the feed tower, does it have the AR-15 mag catch hole?

Quarterbore,

Yes, the above picture with the drum loaded is of the drum that I have.  I didn't even realize that I didn't have a picture posted of the other side of the feed tower.  I'll try and get one posted just for reference sake.

Thanks for the help.

I dug my drum mag out and it is identical to yours!

What did you pay for this?

I am having camera issues at the moment but I will try to get pics later today if I can.
