You opened it up and pushed the button on the inside right?
If the button won't push in, odds are there is no tension on the springs. Which is how its suppose to be when you load it.

Spin the key on the outside a couple timea then open the back and try pushing the button on the inside. Should release the tension.

If it does then everything is fine

Tried that. No joy. Also on my drum the button can be pushed without winding it at all. On the other one cant be pushed either way.

You can always go to the century website and download the manual. It shows how to completely disassembly the drum mags.

Push HARD but use something other than your delicate fingers so you don't get bit.
