Not sure which speed loader you have. I have the black sheet metal one with the star. I'm able to load my magazines with stripper clips without much difficulty. It does take practice. I don't have many rounds on stripper clips. I use stripper clips mainly to hold loose rounds from half boxes or something. I got mine off of EE for next to nothing. It seems to work best on Chinese smooth back 30rd magazines.

They're fairly inexpensive and do work with a variety of AK magazines. If I've read correctly, can work with different caliber of AK magazines.
