i have 3 mags and i cant figure out what country they are from. i checked the thread up top and tried google.

they are all regular steel 30 round 7.62x39.

2 are stamped with a circle "M", and that is the only marking on them.

the other has a couple markings, a diamond with what looks like "OB", diamond with "D", an arrowhead looking thing and a circle "27". at least i think its 27.

any help?

Circle M is the Russian Molot factory logo.

Any chance for pics? Might help for the other one.

The magazines with the "M" in a circle is probably Hungarian, and the second magazine with the triangle marking is likely a Russian Izhevsk magazine.

Check the floorplate retainer on the Hungarian / MOLOT magazines to see if it gray phosphated.  If it is I would bet it is Hungarian.

Just looked at some of my 20rd Hungarian mags I got from AIM and 3 of them have the circle M stamp on the spine.

So now I am confused. Definately some conflicting info out there.

I don't know if they are wrong about the circle "M" stamp or not.  I could be that both varieties share that feature.  There is another way to identify the magazine as Hungarian.  Take apart the magazine and look at the floorplate retainer again.  Does it have a bent piece of sheet metal that goes off at a right angle to the rest of the retainer.  If it doesn't it is probably Hungarian.

you mean the ends of the endplate are bent 90 degrees up? yes.

I am talking about the floorplate retainer.  It is the thing that you said was gray phosphated.  Does it have a tab that is bent up at a right angle and extends into the springs?
