Looks like someone done a damn good job of accomplishing nothing.

It actually looks like someone took some AK47 mags that were originally modified to be mags for an AR15 in 7.62x39 and RE-modified them to fit an AK again. Either that or they expertly modified some SKS mags OR Mini 30 mags to use in an AK47.

At this point I think your modified AR15 mag idea is most plausable.
The finish on the whole thing matches quite well and even the spot welds on the upper and lower sections are very similar.

The top of the mag is definitely the Chinese "all stamped" style mag. Not sure what the 30rnd mag body is. How many rounds does it hold? Probably a US hack job. Does it work well?

I hadn't seen one before, it came with a parts kit I got third hand.
It does seem rather poorly made.

Definitely USA brand. I bought one exactly like it a few months ago for next to nothing. It's function is almost non-existant. Bunched up too damn much.

They just make a various capacity bodies and spot weld them to whatever "head" they need for the gun the magazine in intended for.

It's not a home-brew. That's how they look straight out of the bag.
