I am looking for some information about some plastic core ammo I picked up a little while back.  I was wondering if it is lead free and ok to shoot at indoor ranges and steel targets?

Thanks.

P.S. does anybody know what this stuff is worth?  I will probably shoot up most of it, but I may be talked into selling if the price is right.

If it is East German 7.62x39mm plastic core training ammo, I would not shoot it indoors or at steel plates. The plastic core is hard and will likely bounce back or bouce off the steel plate unlike a lead core round that deforms as it hits the steel. It is lead free, but corrosive primed. If you are talking about some other plastic core cartridge, we need more info.

It is the E.German stuff.  So I shouldn't shoot it at steel plates at pistol ranges?

The east german plastic core ammo came in 10 rd. "blister packs". Originally made for East german police units for apartment dwelling fighting.I believe the bullit weight was about 62 grains. very little recoil, not very accurate at longer ranges.
If you have some to sell, I might be interested. Thanks!

The East German 7.62x39mm plastic core ammunition is NOT for "urban fighting" or "anti-terrorist" uses. Those are myths. This is PRACTICE ammunition and nothing more. The markings on the boxes and 10 rd. "mini-packs" as they were called, clearly state the nomenclaure as "Ubungspatrone" which directly translates to "Pratice cartridge". If this stuff were intended for CQB, they would not have packed a data card inside the crates showing the sight settings to be used for ranges out to 300 meters for the LMG-K (RPK). There is also a tracer version of this round. Again, not much use in CQB though. There was even a plastic core 5.45 round...
