Well, it's Barnaul made, nickle plated cases. It all depends on the price. I generally pick the absolute cheapest ammo there is. Silver Bear usually sells for a premium, but it's just fine to shoot of course.

The only difference between Silver Bear,Golden Bear,Brown Bear,Barnual, and RAM brands of fmj ammo is the protective coating applied to the steel cartridge cases and the printing on the boxes. All are manufactured in the Barnual factory on the same machines using the same powder, primers, and bullets.

It seems to shoot most accurate from my MAK out of the different ammo that I have available.  I like it.

Silver Bear rifle ammo has zinc plated cases, not nickel. Some (or all?) of the pistol ammo does have nickel plated cases.

Some complain about the zinc plating becoming gritty when oxidation forms, but IMO it's barely noticable and causes no problems.

Love it.  I still have some even though I don't have anything to run it through.

I've used it in a friends AK (like, real, full-auto AK) and another friends MAK-90.  Never had any malfs with it.  Seems as accurate as the weapons.
