to me. Group size that is. I searched but couldn't find such a thread, direct me there if there is. OK, I know about "combat accuracy." My stock M1 can hit a sillouhette at 500 yards with surplus ammo easy. I'm very happy with that. My NM AR has put 30 consecutive (match) rounds into 3.1 inches at 300 yards. I'm very happy with that. What should make me happy out of my AK using surplus ammo, post front, rear Mojo peep? I will be using it for 3 gun matches, a task for which it will excel, except maybe 300+ yard stages? It seems that the AK crowed (to which I newly associate myself) doesn't get as anal about group size as the AR guys but... What size groups have you measured from your weapons? Is a man-sized sillouhette at 300 yards reliably realistic with the current ammo (soon to be) available? Thanks! AK's rule (and AR's and FAL's and Mausers and O/U shotguns and S&W revolvers and .....) |

Well, for 300yds you prob want a 74 for the flatter trajectory. The 7.62 drops about as much from 150-200 as it does from 0-150, and harder after that. The same thing happens to both 5.45 and 5.56 at about 250. Some of my 100 groups are: 2" Colt 7.62x39 upper 2" Bulgy 74 kit build 2.5" SAR2 2.5" SAM7 3" AMD63 4" SAR1 Compare to: 1" hbar AR on match ammo, 1.5" on good surp, 2" on Russian 1.5" .308 Garand on Aussie 2" G3 & CETME 2.5" Imbel FAL Those are my any day, bet you a nickel, repeatable results. |
