I'm an AR shooter, but I'm considering getting an AK in 5.45. However, I can't seem to find any ammo for it.

What's the deal with 5.45 ammo availability? Thanks.

Brother, I'm in the same boat and I'm going to sell a 222 vls Rem to fund a 5.45. If you look at Sportsmansguide web site you will notice that the 5.45 hp ammo is backordered until 4/15. Hopefully it's coming around the corner right now. I toyed with the idea of a 5.56 AK but the mag question bothers me more than the ammo question.

Akron Armory wil have some surplus in in the next few weeks. Bob's been pretty good to deal with and the price of the ammo is not bad for the real deal. Besides what he has coming I have not heard of any other than the normal "this summer" stuff.

Forget what Wolf says. The DATA indicate the following: Order now, and you will get ammo in about 4 months. That's based on actual order/ship info - not email or phone promises.

When the actual DATA changes, the situation will have changed. All the rest is talk.

They're both hard to find. It might be because when *certain* people buy ammo, the order is in multiple case amounts.

Of course those people don't notice shortages like this because they have ammo to spare. Kind of like the ant in the winter.
