Remember first that there are strict regulations about launching grenades from rifles.

That in mind, if you want to make up a dummy grenade it can be launched.

I have worked in making them for Mauser rifle grenade launchers for a while and I will say that it is quite easy to make something dangerous by mistake.

We have a 10 ounce weight limit for safety, and I would start with that.  I would also just start with the standard East German blanks. They can be found at most gun shows in 10 round blister packs. These are not grenade blanks, but you will be surprised at how far you can launch something with one.

The main thing is to be carefull. Blanks are more powerful than you think. We have launched German grenades 200 meters with great accuracy in experaments when not following the weight limit. We were able to lauch a 5cm morter 750 meters with just a party popper, so be carefull and be sure to have plenty of open space.

Don't ever aim one at anyone! I have put one through the front and rear windows of a car from 30 meters away, and it was just a hollowed out dow rod!

Start with E.G. blanks and work your way up from there. Safety first.
