I left some loader AK mags in the my trunk, somehow water  got into my trunk. So there are now rust on the ammo. So is it safe shoot these round?  I’m talking about 120 rounds of FMJ Wolf.

I was thinking of going to range sometime soon and shooting off all of these, good ideal? Or should I just throw these away. Will the rust affect the ammo at all, can I just clean the rust with some rem oil? I really need help on this.

Thank

And how are the loaner mags doing?  Are the internals/springs free of rust also?

As to the ammo, I wouldn't use oil on them at all. Oil and ammo don't mix.  I'd clean them up with some steel wool and inspect carefully under good light.  Any pitting of the cases is cause for rejection.  If the bullets only show pitting, their accuracy may be impaired.

The mags seem to be in decent shape, no rust on the body. I will disassemble them later on to inspect the internals.

I inspect the round, doesn’t seem be any pitting, but just rust on the shell case itself.

I had some steel cased Russian ammo that was rusted pretty heavliy, no pitting but a good coating of red on them.  I just polished them with a little steel wool and oil as you suggested, but also wiped the excessive oil off before I shot them.  Worked great.
