I bought 400 rounds of 7.62  39 years ago and would like to know where it's from. It looks like it may be Arabic Writing. It's been so many years that I cannot remember if it came on strippers or I did it but the strippers have 964 stamped on them. I seem to recall that it came from Iraq but cannot remember for sure.

I tried to take a close up pic of the headstamp but instead drew out the markings as best I could. They may be upside down for all I know. Thanks for any help.

It's Iraqi and, the factory that produced this ammunition was reportedly set up by the Yugoslavians.

As positioned, at 12 o'clock 89 (year of mfg.), 5 o'clock 03 (factory code? appears on most/all Iraqi headstamps of this style), 7 o'clock 39 as in 7.62x39mm.

Thanks osprey21. I checked the FAQ area first but didn't see it listed. I've been doing an ammo inventory and found it again. I've found a few different types that I've had stashed away, Chinese, German,Russian, Iraqi.

bought or brought?

Those are the magic bullets you see the iraqs and the monrovians using, you can aim from over you head at your target and you will vanquish all of your enemies.  Beware: side-effects can include; shooting with your stock off and wearing a life jacket when your at the range shooting.

Don't forget to read about project "Eldest Camel" in this months issue of tubuksheik.

I meant to say neat bullets I like to collect stuff from all of the world too.
Just have'n some fun..........

I didn't realize that anyone else knew I did this and I'm also getting pretty good at shooting with the rifle upside down above my head.

They must have imported some because I bought them years ago from a friend who has an FFL. It seems like it was the late 80's or maybe early 90's but do not remember for sure.

The Russian ammo is in unmarked small white boxes and in a battle pack. The dealer I bought them from said they were HP but I never opened the battle pack to be sure.

The German is in standard size, 20 round white boxes and has Made In Germany stamped on the side.
