I have a couple hundred rounds of some 7.62x39 which I think is circa early 90's but I'm trying to get more info.  The headstamp reads 711 on the "top" I guess you would say and 94 on the "bottom".  Thanks in advance.

It sounds South-African to me, like maybe it was taken out of a wooden crate.

WOLF before it was WOLF. I have fired thousands of rounds of it. All mine came in wax paper 120rd bricks. It was nothing special.

I merely quoted the OP and then stated a fact.

Here's a bit more info for identifying 7.62x39 country of origin. -- 7.62x39 Cartridges

No, not "Wolf before it was Wolf". This ammunition was made at the Klimovsk Stamping Plant, which had nothing to do with Wolf or the factory that originally made it, Tula.

This is basic Russian hollow point ammo. Nothing special, but it is not bad either.

That is an interesting website, but it contains more than a few errors... (not counting the translation of course).
