I just baught some Gun Slick foam bore cleaner. Once I get it it tells me it is NOT reccomended for gas operated automatics. What is the reason for this? I am tapped out of money and wanted something easy to clean new wasr10. Is there some harm it can do to the gun?

Just a guess, but I think the expanding foam will get into your gas port and become hard to remove.  If it devolves the crap in your barrel and then flows in to your gas tube it might deposit that gunk there when it dries, creating a clogged or constricted gas port.

ETA:  Are you cleaning the shipping grease off?  Or just cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo?  And really, why are you cleaning it?  After all, it IS an AK!

I dont want to hurt the rifle or its abilities :P

I've never used it before, but that would be my first guess as well.

How about some Hoppes or some brake cleaner?

For all of my guns I use good old Hoppe’s # 9.  Be warned though, it stinks pretty bad.  For the times when I have to clean my toys inside and don’t want to deal with the smell, I use Outers Nitro Solvent or Break Free CLP.  All three of these can be bought for about $5 ea or so at any decent sporting goods store.  WalMart even sells them I think.

if you take the gas tube off you can plug up the gas port with a patch and you should be good to go. I've used this stuff on an AR with a gas tube and I simple sprayed some brake cleaner in the tube after to flush out the foam...

becareful what you use in a chrome lined bore... coper solvents are not really good for chrome because copper is used to bond the chrome to the barrel. if I'm wrong on this someone please chime in.

Bore Snake and some clp. Done. You can wrap a small clp soaked patch around the bristles of the bore snake and run it through. Itll sparkle

I didn't think of that but it makes since. No more copper solvent in my Bushmaster until someone can convince me it's ok.
As far as cleaning my AK's, I use break cleaner and Hoppes. I always follow it up with Miltech.

I use nothing but Hoppes, brake cleaner, etc for cleaning my AKs.  No reason to go with a high dollar foam cleaner that you also need to pay shipping on when you can get brake cleaner at your local Checker/Auto Zone and Hoppes at K-Mart/Walmart.

Most of the product in that foam can is the propellant where brake cleaner cost about $1.75 for the large store can.  A big bottle of Hoppes will last for years cleaning an AK or pistols.

For oiling an AK I have non-detergent 30 wt oil or whatever synthetic motor oil I am putting in my vehicle (Mobile 1).

imho save the foam for old milsurp bolt guns with old crust in the grooves

swab the big chunks out, patch the bore, oil moving parts, shoot

OMG!  If I could get my wife to dab a little on the pulse points I would be a happy man!  To be fair, in my house it is split 3 to 2 on how great it smells ...
