I just purchased a new AK from Whittakers in Owensboro KY, made by IO Inc. I'm not really sure how many parts are new US made, and how many are Romainian remanufactured.

Anyway, I failed to notice until I got home that the front sight post was bent to the right. I fired it the next day anyway and it shoots low and to the left. I had decent shot groups and I tried it from 25, and 15 meters using a M16A2 zero target. (It also jammed twice but a little extra oil took care of that).

The store says I can't exchange it, and I haven't talked to the factory yet. So I'm not sure what I can do. It almost seems they bent it from the factory in order to zero it or something? I just hope its not the barrel. I don't really know anything as far as adjustments. I never had to touch anything on my Maadi.

Thanks,

Doug

Is the front sight POST bent? Replace it. It just screws in.
Is the front sight BASE leaning? Adjust the windage until you have POA and POI the same. If you run out of adjustment the front sight base will have to be straightened.

It's the post. I'm sure I'll just end up straightening it. It's just the point that I paid $670 for a "brand new" rifle with a bent front post. It's $15 extra that I shouldn't have to spend for a new one.

Got a hold of the manufacturer today. They are sending me a new front post and the adjusting tool.

Well I put the new post on and it still shoots to the left. Is there any left/right adjustments?

Yes.  The round thing below the sight post in the front sight tower is the windage drum.  You need an AK windage adjustment tool.
