Hey guns I'm new to this DIY stuff but I bought a bunch of material for refinishing the wood stock of the AK. I bought a finish called "Special Walnut", some rough & fine sandpaper, foam brushes, & a clear coating. Any thoughts and/or advice?

If there is a finish on the wood already, you will need to strip it.

I just recently refinished the wood on my AK. You're going to want to use a chemical stripper rather than sanding. If you just go the sanding route, the stock will be a whole lot smaller than it originally was. This is a good guide

I neglected to take a before picture; however, the furniture sported the ugly WASR finish.

Yes, strip with a good paint stripper, there are lots of good ones at Lowes and Home Depot.  Then sand with 100-150 lightly, moving up above 200 grit.  That'll get the wood nice and smooth and you'll be set to stain and topcoat.
