I have one of the Romanian Champion pistols that I am going to SBR when I get the paperwork done. I am going to use the ACE internal receiver block for the build. How do you install the block and what keeps it in place? The website isn't really clear but it looks like it is retained by the pistol grip screw and the lower stock screw. Is this right? How sturdy is this setup? I thought about installing a different rear trunion and using a wire type folder but I don't think the rivets will line up. Any suggestions or experience from you guys would be great. |

It is held at 2 points. First, it has a large rectangular hole that the pistol grip nut passes through and clamps in place. Second, they provide a hex nut & socket head cap screw that are used in the remaining rear trunion hole. The nut slides in a groove that is machined into the part. The socket head screw had a head that was a little too tall and the trunion hole had to be made a little deeper and the screw head ground a little bit to make it flush for the spring retainer to be installed. Don't take much off the trunion, it isn't very thick there. The tang is cut off and I made this smooth with an air powered disc sander. Going further, I used the m4 socom stock with their adapter. I found that there is room for exactly one of their thin clamp nuts with the amount of threads provided. A regular m4 clamp nut is far too thick. You may be using a different stock so this might not apply. It is extremely sturdy, no complaints. |

The 2007 Champion pistols have a solid rear trunion, the ACE internal reciever block is designed to fit inside a normal rear trunion that had a standard stock on it. In other words, you will have to remove the solid rear trunion and install a standard rear trunion with the tang cut off it. It will be a pain in the ass for sure. I am also going to SBR 2 of the Champion pistols, (.223 & 7.62). But I am not a fan of sidefolders or underfolders, so I am going to just bolt the ACE AK stock directly to the solid rear trunion of the Champion pistols. Unfortunately, I have put these two projects on the back burner for now, I have a rifle /pistol class coming up soon and I am trying to get all me gear worked out. I do however have all the components to do the builds, so when my form1's are returned all I have to do is drill the holes in the rear trunions. |
