Quick question about refinishing, when you guys put a coat of moly resin on a parts kit what surface prep do you do before hand? The kit has the old blueing on it in good shape, but i just want everything to match. Im grit blasting the reciever as the instructions say, but should i blast the barrel and stock as well, or can those just be coated over fine? Just want colors to match, and coating to stick well, so just wondering if they need to be roughed up as well for the coating to stick.

Also, has anyone tried just roughing the surface with some sand paper instead of grit blasting?

Blasting is better than sandpaper.

I just did my first MolyResin coating this week. I only blasted the receiver and left the original finish on the barrel and whatnot. Mine wasn't blued though, it was Bulgarian.

Worked like a charm and matched great!!
