I'm interested in purchasing some gear for refinishing my builds. I know that some of you bead blast your rifles as part of the refinishing process. Any gear recommendations? I was leaning toward the bench top blasting cabinet from Harbor Freight. Is anyone using this? Anyone have any recommendations on an air compressor etc? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I have the red benchtop one think it is the biggest bench top one and it works pretty well I can even fit a barreled receiver in it which is kind of handy if you figure out you need to do touch up at the end.  I think my compressor is 15 gal or something like that from sears it gets the job done however it works hard to do it.  I would say the bigger the compressor the better if you get a tiny one you could be waiting all day long as blasting uses lots of air.  I use 80-90 grit Aluminum Oxide and that seems to do fairly well.  If you are blasting something serial numbered go careful in that area....

I have that one. Its abit small but works I would buy one of the red ones as mentioned. you will need the light kit. The bigger the compressor the better. they use alot of air.

+1 on the Aluminum oxide.  #80-#120

blass bead isn't  coarse enough.  It may "polish" the surface without really cleaning it, and make for harder finish surface adhesion.
