I tried this in the Russian VEPR forum to no avail. Figure I might as well try it hear.

I have a vepr in .308 that I want to thread the barrel on.

I want to do 5/8x24. I have several things that I would like to be able to put on it.

Anybody got any ideas? Is it possible to do with out removing the barrel? If not, is it the same process to remove the barrel as it is for a standard AK? Remove the barrel pin and then press it out? If I do that and dont move the pin, but put it all back together with the same parts, do I have to worry about head spacing?

I would prefer to not remove the barrel but that might be an option.

Also is there a shop that you would recommend sending the gun to to have it done? I am not sure I would be comfortable removing and replacing the barrel myself, unless it is simpler than it sounds. I have the tools and have done my own custom work on 1911 and AR-15's but never AK's or VEPR's.

Anything helps.

Thanks in advance...
