Hi, I've been looking at getting a yugo m70 underfolder kit from akpartskits.com, (here) but they also have a "pre-assembled" kit that is described as having "barrel parts pressed on. Gas hole has not been drilled." are they saying the barrel pin has been pressed out of the barrel/barrel trunnion? Next question what is the gas hole and where should it be drilled? and I would most likely just buy a receiver from NoDak Spud/DC Industries (here.) Does anyone have experience with this kit or receiver? I've been trying to read up on the whole build process, and I have to admit it's pretty confusing/intimidating. There seems to be alot of info on making/heat treating your own receivers, but I still don't have a good overall understanding of what I need to do. So my understanding of what I'd need to do is pretty basic, i.e. get kit, get receiver, (insert steps to put them together?). Also most receivers I've seen are bare metal, how do you guys go about finishing them, i.e. blueing, paint, etc? Is there one complete step by step guide I'm not aware of? If I bought a kit and 100% receiver can I build an AK without special tools (i.e. drill press, etc) since I live in an apartment and don't currently have access to too much in the way of machinery/tools? Sorry, I'm sure these questions seem ignorant to you guys, and sorry if they've been covered elsewhere, just looking for some help getting started. |

I have used a black oxide finish with good results also. Good luck on your build. |
