I am considering building an AK ...I'm still in the information gathering stage to learn as much as I can before I buy ANYTHING. (so please go easy on me)

My questions concern the fire control group, what is the difference between a single and a double hook? (other than the "extra" hook) What is the benefit/disadvantage of building with either?

Is one "better" than the other or more suited for assembly in a specific rifle / receiver?

What would be this groups recommendation for a Romanian AK?  It would SEEM both double and single are acceptable as fas as the ATF goes.....

Thanks

To make a long story short it will depend on your receiver. If your not sure which one yours is cut for either call the manufacturer & ask them or buy a single. Singles will work with all receivers. Doubles can be made to work with any receiver but will require modification to either the receiver or trigger. Both work just fine

Is it correct that a double hook is less likely to produce trigger slap, or does that have more to do with the correct assembly / adjustment of parts?

Not true Ive used single hooks & doubles without any problems. Trigger slap is caused by Century Arms triggers not by the amount of hooks. If you order a quality US trigger such as a G2 Or RSA adjustable you should have to worry about trigger slap. Single hooks are actually the more modern design but some people still prefer doubles. Ive actually been selling a lot more single hooks than doubles lately. Fin out what your receiver is cut out for. If its cut for a double then go that route since there is no reason not to. If its cut for a single either get a single or modify the receiver for a double. Both will work just fine.

Get the single. It's lighter (mass not pull weight).
