Dang! your not playing around.  I suggest the pin be made from very though tool steel (01, 52100, A2, L6, W2, etc..) or even a raw carbide rod from Mcmaster.

Those are some huge shoes too!

The pin is a 1/4" hardened dowel pin.

I knew there was a reason I kept the ram out of that old broke down cylinder I had!
Nice work!

Very nice. But the whole key is the part sitting on the dollar bill. (bet most of you guys missed that)

Most of these guys are having problems because they are not supporting the trunnion solid and square.
You must complete the semi circular, raised portion of the trunnion, around the barrel pin to keep it square. You can not use just a flat surface to press against.
I use a 1/3 section of a 1/2 SAE washer, it is the same thickness as the raised portion.

Very nice job 1917, I pity the barrel pin that has to go up against that baby

Thats the key. Solid, square and keeping your push pin inline with your barrel pin. I put the tapped holes in the bottom plate so I could clamp the trunion down if needed. That way it would have no choice but to stay inline. So far I have not needed to clamp any down. I know I can't trust my press to stay inline or square so I made something that would. Always looking to improve things, any ideas? Thanks guys
Are there any girl builders?
