Well I think I had my first screw up. When I was punching out the barrel pin, it was a bit stubborn. Well all at once it decided to shoot out and now it is somewhere in the garage...one of those things where you hear the sound and you think you know exactly where it is but just my luck....nowhere to be found! So my question is can I use a new pin and be okay or should I just take it to the gun smith and let him do the whole thing. Being a newb as far, as I know you use the old pin to maintain the same headspace? This is my first build and although mechanically inclined, I am solo all the way on this one, short on "proper" tools, and not on a huge budget for new tools that I might only use once. At least this gives me time to refinish the wood properly What do you think guys (or gals)?

Replacement pins can be found, someone will be along to post where. I can't remember off hand.

Headspace will be fine if you use a replacement barrel pin.
Try posting in the equipment exchange if noone puts a link up here to where you can buy one. Many builders there, someone will have extras.
I've read somewhere that the shaft of a drill bit makes a pretty good barrel pin. Cut the drill bit shaft to proper length and press in. I suspect this would work very well.
